We are proud to announce the 2nd Annual South Bay Womyn’s Conference, Weaving our Wisdom: from Roots to Wings on Saturday, March 9, 2013 inside the San José State Student Union. The South Bay Womyn’s Conference partners SJSU students with community members to create a safe space for all ages that promotes learning, expression, and education. In order to unite community members of all genders identities, sexual orientations, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
This year’s theme, Weaving Our Wisdom: from Roots to Wings willl honor the intersection of shared experiences across generations, in hopes of strengthening the South Bay community.
Weaving Our Wisdom seeks to celebrate, learn, and reflect upon the herstory of womyn warriors working in our community, while engaging the concerns faced by today’s generation of womyn. The day will begin with lessons in social, economic, political, and environmental issues that South Bay area womyn have historically confronted throughout the course of their lives and careers. By mid-day, the offering of workshops will have us think deeply on how these issues evolve in ways which challenge us differently, demanding our critical attention with fresh eyes. The conference will end in full blossom as we weave together our collaborative spirits and create new ways to produce a strong, healthy community of womyn and allies.
